California State Polytechnic University

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (CPP, Cal Poly Pomona, or Cal Poly, is a university polytechnic public located in Pomona, California, USA. It is one of two polytechnics in the 23-member system of California State University and one of only seven in the United States.

Cal Poly Pomona started as a branch of the southern California Polytechnic School (now known as Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) in 1938 when a school is fully equipped and agriculture in the city of San Dimas donated by Charles Voorhis and his son Jerry Voorhis. A satellite campus to grow further in 1949 when a horse farm in the neighboring city of Pomona, who belongs to Will Keith Kellogg, acquired from the University of California. Cal Poly Pomona, later known as the Kellogg-Voorhis Cal Poly, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo continue operating under a unified administrative control until they become independent of each other in 1966.

This university is the second largest campus in the CSU, and the registration of 22 156 students, it is the second largest polytechnic university in the United States. In the fall of 2013, the 1,059 faculty, which 442 (or 42 percent) are on track tenure.

The University is designated the National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education by the US Department of Homeland Security. Cal Poly is one of three CSUs, and one of only five institutions California, with this difference. The University has the oldest and largest Hospitality Management College throughout California, and one of the largest in the United States with more than 1,000 students. In addition, Cal Poly has the largest student population in the country's civil engineering. It is the only university in Southern California to provide undergraduate and master's degree in agriculture.

Cal Poly Pomona currently offers 94 different bachelor's degrees, 39 master's degree, teaching credentials and a doctorate in 9 different academic colleges. This university is one among a small group of polytechnic universities in the United States tend to mainly devoted to the instruction of the technical arts and applied sciences.

Magazine ranked Cal Poly Pomona money in this country 268 out of nearly 1,500 schools were evaluated for the 2015-2016 rankings of the best High School. The Daily Beast ranked Cal Poly Pomona in the country 159 out of nearly 2,000 schools were evaluated for the 2014 Best Colleges ranking. Cal Poly Pomona ranked 4th among Western societies Colleges 2016 edition of US News & World Report "Best Colleges" and 31 when category includes private and public universities. The university is recognized as the most diverse campuses 12th among universities in the area to the west by the USN & WR.

In 2014 Forbes magazine's list of "America Best Colleges", Cal Poly Pomona was ranked number 279 among the best 650 public and private universities in the country.  In "PayScale High Salary Report" 2012 conducted by PayScale graduates without higher degrees, Cal Poly Pomona is ranked 19th among public universities in the nation with starting salaries average $ 46.800 and the average salary mid careers of $ 93,000. This puts Cal Poly Pomona fourth highest in California and the second highest in the CSU, while besting each with the exception of UC Berkeley and San Diego.
Cal Poly Pomona College of Business Administration was placed in the USN & WR's "Best Business Schools" list in 2013. The University is also considered to have the best program in Civil Engineering 6 in the country between the schools highest level is the master, according to the USN & WR.

At the December 2014 Kiplinger ranked Cal Poly Pomona 94 of the top 100 best-rated public schools in the country, and 11 in California. Furthermore, Cal Poly is considered one of the major investment for the value of education, with a net 2,013 30-year return on investment (ROI) of $ 917,100 according to PayScale. This ROI is the third highest in the CSU and the top 113 of the 1,511 colleges and universities in the US rankings, besting most UC campuses.

Sports teams are known as the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos and play in the NCAA Division II as part of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Broncos sponsor 10 varsity sports and has won 14 NCAA national championships.
