Kaplan University

American Institute of Commerce was founded in 1937 before changing its name to Quest College. On November 2000, the name was changed to Quest College Kaplan College after Kaplan, Inc. acquired with the purchase of Quest Education Corporation.

Locations in Davenport, Iowa, United States (with the main administration building in Fort Lauderdale, Florida), Campus 11 campuses in Iowa, Nebraska, and Maryland and 4 Kaplan University Learning Center in Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

In September 2004, Kaplan High officially changed its name to Kaplan University after it was given permission to offer graduate-level programs.

University schools of nursing awarded national professional accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in April 2006 from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In October 2007, all seven Iowa and Nebraska-based Hamilton College (Iowa) joined Kaplan University campus and now operates under the brand Kaplan University. Concord Law School of Kaplan University joined in October 2007, changed its name to Concord Law School of Kaplan University. Concord is not recognized by the American Bar Association, which does not accredit institutions online, although students with a non-ABA-accredited law degree are allowed to take the bar exam and practice law California ever admitted to the bar.

Kaplan University has faced some whistle-blower lawsuit that charges the Federal fits with the findings of an undercover federal investigation that revealed recruiting high pressure and promises of unrealistic salary. Kaplan enrollment has dropped from 119 000 to 65 000 in the center of the controversy.

In 2015, Kaplan completed with federal officials regarding allegations that hire instructors who are not eligible. About 300 former students from Kaplan will receive a refund of tuition as part of the settlement.
